Two Belgian Draught Foals Born at PALM Breweries
Welcome little Rodenbach and Royale! The Belgian Draught foals were born a couple weeks apart (March 15 and February 24, 2009) at PALM Breweries’ stables in Steenhuffel, Belgium. The Belgian draught horse stables are adjacent to the Diepensteyn Castle on PALM Breweries’ grounds.
PALM Breweries’ owner, Jan Toye, has worked tirelessly to preserve the country’s national pride – the Belgian Draught Horse, which nearly went extinct. At the end of the 20th century the number of draught horses born dropped from an annual rate of 1,200 to 400. PALM Breweries became involved with the creation of the Association for the Belgian Draught-Horse (VBBT) and they are clearly doing their part to protect their beloved draught horse!
